How Safety Tracking Works

We don't run continuous background GPS tracking on your phone - that's neither necessary nor something most visitors want. Instead, safety tracking on Tour Guide Naija is built around your itinerary and an on-demand SOS check, not constant surveillance.

Every attraction, hotel and guide you book becomes part of a structured itinerary with dates and locations. If you go quiet during a booked activity in a restricted state, that itinerary is the first thing our safety team checks - it tells them where you were supposed to be and with whom.

The SOS button lives in the navigation bar on every page. Tapping it captures your device's exact GPS location at that moment and sends it, along with your emergency contact and current booking, straight to our safety team - who can act on it immediately.

In restricted states, a mandatory paid security escort is added automatically to your itinerary. The escort travels with you and is the first point of contact if anything goes wrong before our safety team can be reached directly.

The emergency contact you add in your profile is notified by our safety team during a genuine incident. Keep this up to date, especially the phone number - it's one of the fastest ways we can loop someone in on your behalf.

Once an alert is sent, you can track its status from the SOS page. Our safety team responds directly and coordinates with local contacts, your emergency contact, and - in a restricted state - your assigned escort.
